SELECT PROVINCIAL PLAYING RULES (INCLEMENT WEATHER)

As per Softball Canada rules, a regulation game is one that:

has completed 7 innings,

has reached a mercy rule situation,

has employed the tie breaking rules,

has ended in an official tie after 5 innings due to playing/weather conditions,

has been terminated at the end of 5 or 4 ˝ innings due to inclement weather.

As per OASA or PWSA Select Tournament Rules, a regulation game is one that:

has completed 7 innings,

has reached a mercy rule situation,

has employed the no new inning “time limit”,

has ended in an official tie after 3 innings due to playing/weather conditions,

has been terminated at the end of 3 or 2 ˝ innings (if home team is winning) due to inclement weather.

In the case of inclement weather:

The umpires will be the ones that determine if the game is to be “suspended” or if the game will be put in a “rain delay” situation.  The period of time will also be up to the umpires in terms of what is reasonable. They may consult with the umpire in chief and the tournament committee if further action is to be considered.

In the case of game termination:

The tournament committee will be the ones that determine if the game is to be terminated because of inclement weather or playing conditions.  If the game is terminated prior to becoming a regulation game, it will be “resumed” at another time.  The amount of time remaining and the game situations (score, outs, count, batter, runners) will also resume.
