| Orleans Softball and the Parade of Lights |
|
For the third year in a row, Orleans Softball entered a float in the Annual Parade of Lights. Along with 79 other entries the parade was well attended and had plenty for everyone to see. Again we showed that Softball is not just an activity for the spring and summer months and we can all come together to pitch in and have a fun time. Our float this year had a different flavour in that we had a live band playing Christmas songs all the way along the route. Spand~X, a local 80's cover band, graciously offered their time, and practiced very hard on the songs, to provide what turned out to be a great time to be had by all.

It was a lot of fun to watch people dancing and singing as we came along the parade route, and also to see some of the judges dancing was pretty amazing. According to the reports, there were approximately 130,000 people along the route so we were seen by many. A big thanks goes out to the following people for all the construction help this year: Rob Douthwright, Angele Clement, Paul Anderson, Kevin Nelson, Stewart Barr, Alyssa Harvey, and especially Dan Hotte our exceptional handyman, who's construction skills and faith that the roof would fit out the doors of the bunker were really needed!!!! Thanks to everyone who marched in the parade and helped to have a ton of fun...we look forward to next year's entry. |
