“RoundUp for Research – Jail & Bail” has come and
gone. Although there will always be a
need for kidney research and donations, the OAFA is proud to have contributed
to the Kidney Foundation of Canada on Nov 7, 2007. It was good fun getting organized and seeing
the event through. It would not have
been possible without your help in this however.
At
2:45pm, Ken was read his rights by a very nice police officer, who also happens
to play ball, and taken away to the jail house.
The submissive criminal that Ken was, meant that he didn’t need the hand
cuffs after all.
Ken
was arrested for various crimes; some “ball” related (taking TOO long to “break
in” the ball glove & recklessly “stealing home”) and some that were
not. The Judge and Police that were on hand
at the Orleans Legion, seemed quite concerned that there was a great joy and
connection with adult beverages and proceeded to lay down the law. After downsizing his initial sentence from
one year of community service, he was given a one hour sentence in a “communal
jail” and had to come up with $490 in bail money to help support the Kidney
Foundation.
Following
the mug shot and meeting his inmates (no there were no bald headed guys wearing
orange jumpsuits), he was then served some traditional jail house food - garlic
bread and water. Ken then made his phone
calls. His task was quite well received
by all of you that were able to contribute.
Thanks to everyone he was able to make bail and surpassed the amount required
- $710 was raised for the Kidney Foundation and he was released from jail.
